Subject:New Blog and YouTube Account
Security:Public

I posted my last message in September. The Advanced Archives have lain dormant ever since. Therefore, I present to you my new Blog, as well as my YouTube user account.

New Blog: Tohnocore is a fictitious consultancy company of mine, and this blog is for the business, or at least me at the moment.

http://www.tohnocore.com

YouTube Account: Now that I am actually posting my own videos, I can proudly (read: with much embarrassment) link you to my YouTube user account.

Enjoy!

Subject:Avast! Livejournal be a Buccaneering site.

So, as not enough of you know, today is/was Talk Like A Pirate Day (it's a September 19th thing).

So, much to my joy, livejournal has taken full notice of this fact, making Frank the goat into a scallywag, and even the tiny user icon (that indicator in front of your name) be sportin' an eyepatch. *Edit: When I went to post, I noticed the button caption even says, "Update Captain's Log". I wonder what else I've missed.

So, if you read this before the night is over, don't be a bilge rat and shoot off a few Arrs!!! while it's still the 19th.

I had my fill earlier today, and I don't want anyone to know I really am a pirate, hence why this entry was rather devoid of the language.

And here we go again with the insomnia.

So, lately I've been learning a lot how you can tweak and work with facebook, and therefore tweaking and working with facebook a bit. Then again, everybody's been learning about facebook with the news/mini feed addition. Wow! To imagine that over 500,000 (as of the time of this entry) users have reacted to this update, almost unanimously with disguet, and almost every news source independent of facebook has covered the issue as well is nearly unfathomable.

That goes right along the lines of the $2 bil. asking price if facebook gets sold (and there are large media companies interested).

So, I suppose I should pull out my Wired mag issue with the social networking site creator in it and jump on the bandwagon.

But first, I'll mention the book equivalent of Last.FM: http://www.librarything.com/ That's right, catalog your books online. The only issue I'm seeing with that is the sheer level of exactness required to really create your online library. Every edition is represented, which means pulling all the books off your shelf and making sure you enter data for the correct one. But hey, it's a price to pay.

Anyway, you'll notice from the ubiquitous news feed that I've uploaded some photos from my trip to spain. Feel free to check them out.

Umm... This entry was mostly to play with the ability to link a blog to facebook. For now, it's my livejournal.

Be sure to listen to Modern Times if you haven't already.

The last line of this quiz result represents a swift kick to my gut.
What type of artist should I be? )

I have also discovered the key to flying, though perhaps it is more about cheating gravity. And by this I mean unaided flight. No planes, wires, birds, or anything else. Just a person and what they can do with their body.

And...I joined up with the novelty of Last.FM. It's an interesting social networking site based around collecting reports sent through your media player of the music you listen to, and bringing you to meet others who like the same music while discovering new, similar music. Or such. I like the charts that tell me how much of what I'm really listening to. It says a little more than iTunes tells me, except I'm kind of cheating by leaving iTunes playing 24/7 just to generate impressive stats. Ha!

But hey, on a lighter note than that last, crushing entry, I'm getting a 2 - year subscription to the New Yorker for only 53 cents an issue. Sweet deal.

And the topic doesn't just regard the idea of ruling the world.

As it turns out, I received a 4 - 6 page essay assignment the day before spring break began due on Sunday. It is for an online course, and all the assignments are listed in order, you find the week's assignment folder on the web site and click there to find the components that need to be completed.

The mid-term paper assignment appears one after the spring break assignment (or no assignment for that matter) folder.

I read that there is no spring break assignment and haven't logged into that class since. Until now, to check what normal weekly assignment I needed to complete only to be blasted in the face with the mid-term essay.

Grr...

Instead of 2 weeks I now have roughly 3 and a half days to get this done. 2 of which I work a seperate 8 hour shifts on. I'll be lucky if I spend more than an hour on the paper before submitting it Sunday.

Oh well. Maybe if I played chess a little more often I would learn to carefully plan ahead (and take notice of what obstacles will arise). Oh well, I sort of needed this push anyway, I guess.

I came across this awesome quote while reading an abridged version of Rousseau's "On The Social Contract".

"Were there a nation of gods, their government would be democratic. Such perfect government is not for men."

It's brilliant, and only goes on to justify my belief in an aristocracy or complete monarchy as the best government for the human race. A veritable hegemony.

Not to mention that reading "Shadow of the Giant" by Orson Scott Card is helping to incite my intense, internal, and often suppressed ambition.

Wow. I am going to have to go back and see it again, and again, and wear out the DVD when that becomes available.

Subject:Luck has nothing to do with it.
Security:Public

Friendship is a living thing.

A lot of people I know -- perhaps I inadvertantly (and sometimes on purpose as well) surround myself with these people -- wish to write. And, sometimes they actually do write. What I don't understand is their penchant for novelty. Is there something inherently attractive about writing nothing with any real construction?

Maybe I'm searching for my real muse, a zahir to drive me.

I feel as though I have in front of me the mountain from which everyone else's writer's block is carved. It's horrendous, I feel so completely helpless anytime I try to devote a single moment to pursuing my dreams, particularly my dream of writing.

Why? This shouldn't happen to me. I know all about overcoming obstacles, and how to pursue the life I imagine. I know all about not getting caught up in the useless rhythms and routines of life. I am not a fool, I know how to be the greatest person to ever have lived, or at least how to be the next King Solomon and Leonardo da Vinci.

And yet...what have I done to move towards the fantastic goals that eternally roll around in my head?

Perhaps I think too much about it all. There is a principle taught within some of the finer martial arts that is the principle of "no mind". It is acheived by simply being able to react without having to take the time to think, therefore reaching the solution without allowing the problem to grow. I'm very cerebral. I think about things too long. Today I spent nearly 5 minutes at the self-checkout in the grocery store thinking about whether or not I wanted any cash back since I was paying with debit.

Why do I get bogged down on such things?

I suppose my biggest problem is I feel as though I don't have any accountability, though I'm sure that's not true at all. All I really need to do is just ask.

I could ask someone to bug me to show them what I've written daily in order to inforce myself to write daily.

Or of course, similarly for other activities I wish to pursue such as learning a new language, or learning to play an instrument.

There is so much power when you simply ask. I just need to simply ask. Nobody can read my mind, I can't assume that someone will offer a degree of accountability if I don't let them know I desire it in a particular matter.

Rennaisance Man.

Me.

It's time to start. I'm 20 and haven't done anything. I don't want to be here when I turn 21.

Security:Public

I'm thinking I need to pick up a hobby. But...this is not very helpful given my other need: more money, faster.

As far as hobbies go, I think that viable options include:
---Biking
---Rock Climbing
---Figure Skating
---Paper mache blobs
---Time wasting
---Food Critic
---Learning an instrument
---Skydiving
---Selling or consuming illegal drugs
---Arms trafficing
---Landscaping
---Photography
---Hiking
---Painting
---Muder
---Bank robbery
---International fraud
---Hangliding
---Kite flying
---Boxing
---Sleeping
---Standup/improv comedy
---Shooting pool

If you have any other ideas (or solutions to money shortness), please send them my way. Thanks.

I'm thinking I should give up my cell phone.

I don't, in any way feel that it is worth the 60 dollars a month I spend on it. Those 60 dollars could go towards the purchase of a new laptop, or such. Something I would make far greater use out of.

I send text messages, and occasionally make 1 minute calls to check my voicemail. The few extended conversations I have could probably easily be made on the home phone without disrupting anyone else's use of it.

I originally got it in case of emergencies, but I haven't had to use it for that purpose yet. I don't want to either.

It would mean one less distracting item that I would feel a need to always have handy.

Really, what good is my phone?

Maybe I'll end my service when my contract is up, though, that's not going to be for a long while yet.

Hmm...

Subject:My Mistaken Take On December 31st smashing into January 1st
Security:Public

I originally posted this on a message board in response to a thread about celebrating the new year.

~~~~~~~~~~
I think that time is really just moving backwards in the overall overview, and that each time people celebrate a new year they are horribly incorrect in their joy.
It's really an old year.
An older year every year.
Of course it's happy, because we're moving toward the older, the past, the younger, the more enjoyable years. That's why things get better as the years go on (unless you screw up life). Because old things are cooler.
Happy old year!
